Oamaru Blue

Bring to room temperature and you’ll be rewarded with a creamy, velvety texture and savoury moreish flavours. This specialty blue is taken to the next level when melted in cooking.

Whitestone Cheese have developed a new, world class blue cheese.Named after the hometown of Whitestone Cheese, Oamaru Blue is our latest blue cheese innovation.

This extra special blue has been made utilising production techniques taken from Roquefort, Stilton, Gorgonzola, Emmentaler, and our very own Shenley Station and Windsor Blues’.

The result is a soft and buttery cow’s milk cheese, the rind is corrugated and rustic, inside is an inviting soft core with both homogenous blue veins of Italian and our own 45 South mould (penicillium roqueforti including our ‘hay bale’ mould strain).

Match with...

  • Pinot Noir, heavy Merlot or a Dark Ale, Porter.
  • Serve at room temperature on your cheese board with plain crackers, slather on some crusty bread or grill on top of prime beef steak.
