Monte Cristo sheep milk cheese

Monte Cristo sheep milk cheese

Commercial Champion - 2026 & 2025 NZ Cheese Awards.

Complex, nutty, fruity. A sheep’s milk cheddar, Monte Cristo is pressed and matured for approximately fourteen months, to produce a subtle nutty flavour that becomes strong and more complex as it ages.

The cheese is aged for approximately fourteen months to allow it to develop its flavours and is waxed prior to dispatch from the factory. This is due to the rounds of cheese releasing moisture during maturation.

Monte Cristo was named after the Berry family farm at Maheno, which is approximately 15 minutes south of Oamaru on State Highway 1.
