Moeraki Bay Blue

Moeraki Bay Blue

Size

Creamy, smooth and soft, with a mild blue flavour and rich full cream finish. When served at room temperature it can melt in your mouth.

A premium high cream blue cheese. Moeraki Bay Blue is a smaller log with shorter maturation than it’s stable mate Windsor Blue, producing a slightly firmer texture and a milder flavor with a rich full cream finish. It is a delicate blue to contrast our richer stronger styles.

It is made using the same recipe and mold as our flagship Windsor Blue. While the Windsor Blue is made in an approximately 3.6kg round and aged for at least eight weeks, our Moeraki Bay Blue is much smaller at approximately 1kg and younger as it is matured for around four weeks.

The cheese is named after the tranquil little fishing village of Moeraki, located 25 minutes south of Oamaru, and home to the world renowned Moeraki Boulders. Bob used to farm the great affinity with this bay. When it came to naming the Windsor Blue stablemate Moeraki Bay was the first choice.

Match with...

  • Medium-bodied red wine such as a cab merlot, Pale Ale, smooth lager.
  • Serve at room temperature with plain crackers, crusty bread, and sweet chutneys. Lovely as a steak or pizza topping.
