Livingstone Gold is a distinctive, sharp-ﬂavoured cheese made in our traditional open vat. It features a rich, savoury taste with a lingering ﬁnish, and its vibrant golden colour comes from annatto — a natural plant-based colouring derived from the seeds of the achiote plant. Commonly used in Mexican and Caribbean cooking, annatto gives the cheese its signature hue.

The cheese is named after North Otago’s historic Livingstone goldﬁelds. Evidence of the area’s goldmining past is still clearly visible today, with old sluicing sites, water races, and the occasional gold ﬁnd continuing to tell the story of its rich history.

Serve at room temperature with plain crackers for a burst of colour and ﬂavour. Also great for adding depth to savoury sauces.
