Warm up this winter with a delicious baked brie! Encased in puff pastry with apricot jam to sweeten it up, this baked brie is great as a starter for a cozy winter dinner party!
Ingredients:
Preheat the oven to 200°C. On a clean and floured surface, roll out the puff pastry dough to a size that is large enough to completely wrap around the brie round. Take the apricot jam and spread it evenly over the surface of the brie. Make sure to cover the top and sides of the cheese with a generous layer of jam, as it will add a delicious sweetness to the dish.
Place the brie in the center of the rolled-out puff pastry dough and gently fold the pastry over the brie, starting from one side and working your way around. Tuck in the edges as you go to fully enclose the cheese and press the seams together. Place the wrapped brie on a baking sheet or skillet lined with baking paper.
In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and water to make an eff wash. Brush the egg wash over the entire surface of the pastry - this will give the pastry a glossy, golden finish when baked.
Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry turns golden brown and becomes puffed up. Remove from the oven and allow to cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with thyme or rosemary, and serve with crackers or a sliced baguette, Enjoy!
