Our Farmhouse cheese is a mild unique New Zealand cheese covered in a fine bloomy penicillin candidum rind. It has a delightful fresh lemon-grass aroma and springy elasticity. When young it has a “sea breeze” freshness, and a savoury, delicate ‘Brie’ aroma and springy elasticity.

Whitestone Cheese’s Farmhouse was the original, first cheese launched by our founders Bob and Sue Berry.

Whitestone Cheese was founded in 1987 as a diversification during the 1980’s rural downturn and a series of crippling droughts. Bob’s experience in livestock trading was quickly applied to cheese trading. The original factory was set up in Oamaru in a converted garage with milk sourced from local farms and Whitestone Farmhouse was born.

Our Farmhouse is a unique cheese as it is the only pressed cheese with a white rind. It is a semi soft cheese, with the curds being pressed using traditional methods, producing a firmer, denser, fuller flavored cheese. It is matured for 3-4 week.
